Staff & Volunteers
Besides taking on the role of Chair of Trustees for Restored: Eating Disorders Services, Becci works as a Senior Research Nurse in the NHS, specialising in Diabetes. Becci also runs our Carer’s Support Group every Wednesday and plays an active role in the work of Restored. Becci has volunteered for the organisation since November 2014 and was appointed as a Trustee in January 2015. Becci has a vision to build a streamlined service between Restored and other agencies (including NHS) to ensure consistent delivery of care.
Maureen, our Vice Chair, is a well-established member of the community and long standing Pastoral Carer in both her church and wider community. She was part of the original Board of Trustees that established I*EAT and has seen it through to birthing ‘Restored: Eating Disorders Services’ over a period of 6 years. Maureen has volunteered during this time, offering 1:1 and group support for our service-users.
David Gordon (BA Hons, PGCE)
David has recently retired from working as a secondary school teacher in a local grammar school, offering a wealth of experience in the field of education and an understanding of eating disorders from within the school environment. David is one of our newest members of the Board of Trustees and comes with passion and vision to assist us in developing our early intervention and prevention work in schools across Dorset.
Emma Chirnside (BA hons)
With a degree in Family and Community Studies with Applied Theology, Emma has experience in working for the NHS Young Person’s Eating Disorders Service for 2 and a half years, as well as working, more recently as Assistant Chaplain at Bournemouth University. She has worked with us for 7 years, and played a key part in it’s early work and the formation of the charity. Emma currently works as our Care Co-ordinator, enabling the service to run smoothly and efficiently.
Ruth is one of our most experienced and long-standing members of the team; Ruth is a Mentor and a Trainee Counsellor, currently working towards her Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. With a background working in education as a TA, Ruth is our Senior Support Worker. Ruth oversees our volunteer work and co-runs our Carer’s Programme. She also has experience of offering 1:1 support in schools as well as co-delivering assemblies and Eating Disorders Awareness presentations. Ruth has lived experience of self-harm and has a passion to support others who struggle in this area.
With a background in schools and family work including ELSA, Parenting Puzzle and Parent Support Work, Debbie joined us in August 2014 as Mentor and Recovery Group leader. She is currently working towards her degree in Counselling, and also serves on our team of Counsellors as part of her placement. Debbie has experience as a Mental Health Support Worker at Kimmeridge Court Eating Disorders Unit in the NHS. Debbie has more recently been appointed as our Community Support Worker at Restored, offering art workshops and therapeutic work with horses.
Kate is a third year Psychology student at Bournemouth University, who was appointed last year to work as a Recovery Group Leader and Mentor after a period of volunteering with the charity. Kate has lived experience of an eating disorder, giving her a unique insight into her client work. She also has experience of schools-based support for parents, teachers and pupils as well as co-delivering training and Eating Disorders Awareness presentations.
Counsellors / Psychotherapists
Carol works for Restored as a volunteer Counsellor alongside her role as a Mental Health Support Worker in the NHS. Carol is an experienced member of the team, with a background in support for people with substance/ alcohol misuse at EDAS. She is also a member of the BACP and due to start CBT training in September.
Eddie is one of our volunteer Counsellors, a member of the BACP trained to Diploma level in the Humanistic approach. He has been a part of the counselling team at the YMCA as well as Restored Eating Disorders Services. He is due to train in CBT in September and hopes to carry out his placement at Restored alongside his Person-Centred counselling work.
Abbie is a health & lifestyle coach who has lived experience of an eating disorder. Abbie is qualified in Dietetics, teaching & training and has a background in health & lifestyle coaching for both assisted weight loss and weight restoration. Abbie is an Associate Trainer for B-EAT and also trains workers in the field of substance misuse. Abbie is available for private clients requiring 1:1 nutritional/ health support.
Kathy is a health and wellbeing coach, specializing in weight loss, fitness and mindfulness. A former Personal Trainer, Kathy is herself recovered from an eating disorder and is an inspiring speaker and qualified Life Coach. When she’s not working in her role for LiveWell Dorset, Kathy offers her time to the Restored team for training and schools work.
